Spiegel Wellman Construction was formed through the partnership of Wellman & Company and Danbuilt, Inc.—two established names in Southern California construction—bringing together decades of experience, shared values, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
With over 40 years of high-end residential and commercial building experience, our work is defined by precision, accountability, and consistency in execution. What sets us apart is not just what we build, but how we build it.
We operate with a fully integrated team that includes in-house project management, drafting support, trusted permit expeditors, long-standing trade partners, and a field crew that has worked alongside us for decades. This continuity allows us to maintain a level of quality control, efficiency, and problem-solving that is difficult to replicate.
Our experience working throughout Southern California has also given us a deep familiarity with local jurisdictions, including city planning departments, permitting processes, and inspections. We understand how to navigate these systems efficiently, coordinate with the appropriate parties, and keep projects moving forward—an advantage that can significantly impact both timeline and overall project flow.
Every project we take on is supported by a structured, transparent communication system. We utilize Buildertrend project management software, providing each client with a dedicated login to access real-time updates, schedules, budgets, photos, submittals, and daily logs. Whether you are local or across the world, you have full visibility into your project at all times.
We also provide clients with multiple contract structures to best fit their project and priorities, including lump sum, cost-plus, and fixed fee agreements. Our cost-plus and fixed fee approaches are fully open-book, allowing clients complete transparency into project costs, trade bids, and where every dollar is being allocated. This flexibility gives owners greater control, clarity, and the ability to make informed decisions throughout the course of construction.
In addition, we bring a strong value engineering mindset to every project. With decades of hands-on experience, we are able to identify alternative materials, methods, and solutions that can reduce costs without compromising design intent or overall quality. Our goal is to help clients make informed choices—often achieving equal or better results while avoiding unnecessary premiums tied to brand names or over-specified products.

His career spans a range of ventures, including DMS Contractors and CH Construction, where he managed everything from modest home remodels to complex commercial builds.
What sets Dan apart is his deep understanding of Los Angeles' unique construction landscape. He is well-versed in navigating local building codes, seismic regulations, and permitting requirements—making him a reliable and knowledgeable partner for homeowners, developers, and architects alike. Colin Wellman is a multi-talented entrepreneur whose career bridges the worlds of construction, real estate, and investment. As the founder of Wellman & Co., Colin has spent over 20 years honing his expertise in Los Angeles’ fast-moving real estate market, not only as a licensed general contractor but also as a state-certified appraiser and real estate broker. His broad perspective gives him a rare ability to see both the financial and physical dimensions of property development, allowing him to manage projects with strategic foresight and precision.
Raised in Pacific Palisades, Colin has deep personal ties to the community he now serves. His early years as a standout athlete and team captain at Pepperdine University laid the foundation for the leadership, discipline, and collaborative energy that now guide his professional life. After a successful career competing in professional beach volleyball circuits, Colin transitioned that same competitive drive into his business ventures, where he has managed the sale of over $1 billion in real estate and overseen numerous successful construction projects.
Colin’s passion lies in creating spaces that reflect both quality and vision—whether it’s a custom home or a community-focused rebuild.
